3 Easy Steps to Reset Your Garbage Disposal

So, your garbage disposal stopped working. You searched Google and found this how-to instruction to get your disposal working again.  We would love to help you and save you some money in the process.

It is easy to reset in three simple steps

Step 1:  Turn the garbage disposal off

Step 2: Press the red reset button on the underside of the disposal. You may use a mirror to help you locate the red button. If the red button does not stay retracted, wait for 10 minutes and try again.

Step 3: With the reset button on, turn on the water, and switch on the garbage disposal. It should perfectly work.

What if it still doesn’t work?

If the reset button does not stay in, there could be a bigger underlying problem. The grinding plate or wall likely needs to be freed in order to spin freely. This can be done following these steps:

· Step 1: Turn off the garbage disposal switch and unplug it from the wall outlet under the sink.

· Step 2: Using a disposal wrench, insert a toll in the central opening in the bathroom of an appliance. You may use a quarter-inch hex key to release the jam. Rotate it back and forth for it to work and release the jam.

· Step 3: Insert a wooden plunger handle into the garbage disposal through the drain opening in the sink and rotate the grinding plate at the bottom of the disposal until the jam is released.

      FAQs on Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting is a powerful and effective plumbing technique used to clear stubborn blockages and buildup in pipes and drains. It involves using a high-pressure stream of water, often exceeding 3,000 psi, to blast away debris, grease, scale, and other obstructions from the inner walls of plumbing systems.

The hydro jetting process involves inserting a specialized nozzle into the affected pipe, and pressurized water is then directed through the nozzle to break up and flush out blockages. This method is particularly effective for removing tough clogs, tree root intrusions, and mineral deposits that may not be cleared by traditional snaking methods. Hydro jetting not only clears the immediate clog but also helps to restore the pipe’s full diameter, promoting better water flow and reducing the likelihood of future blockages.

Due to the high pressure involved, hydro jetting should only be performed by trained professionals to ensure its safe and effective application without causing damage to the plumbing system.

Hydro jetting is a specialized and potentially hazardous plumbing procedure that should be performed by trained professionals. Attempting to hydro jet your plumbing system yourself can lead to serious safety risks and potential damage to your pipes and fixtures. The high-pressure water used in hydro jetting can cause injury if not handled properly, and using the wrong equipment or technique can result in further pipe damage or even flooding.

Professional plumbers have the necessary expertise, experience, and equipment to safely and effectively perform hydro jetting, ensuring that blockages are cleared without causing harm to your plumbing system. If you suspect a blockage that requires hydro jetting, it’s best to contact a licensed plumber who can assess the situation, determine the appropriate solution, and carry out the procedure safely and efficiently.

Yes, hydro jetting is often worth the investment for certain plumbing issues. It’s a highly effective method for clearing stubborn clogs, mineral deposits, grease buildup, and tree root intrusions from pipes and drains. Hydro jetting not only clears immediate blockages but also restores pipes to their optimal flow capacity, reducing the likelihood of future clogs.

While hydro jetting may have a higher upfront cost compared to traditional snaking methods, its long-term benefits can outweigh the expense. It can extend the lifespan of your plumbing system, prevent recurring clogs, and improve overall drainage efficiency. Moreover, it’s an environmentally friendly solution that doesn’t involve the use of harsh chemicals.

It’s important to note that hydro jetting should only be performed by licensed and experienced professionals to ensure its safe and effective application. Consulting a professional plumber to assess your plumbing issue and recommend the most suitable solution is the best way to determine if hydro jetting is worth it in your specific situation.

Yes, if not used properly, hydro jetting can potentially damage pipes. The high-pressure water used in hydro jetting, while effective for clearing blockages, can cause harm if not applied correctly. Older or fragile pipes, particularly those made of materials like clay or older types of cast iron, may be more susceptible to damage from the forceful water pressure.

To mitigate the risk of pipe damage, it’s crucial to have hydro jetting performed by trained and experienced professionals who understand the appropriate pressure levels for different types of pipes and the condition of your plumbing system. They can assess the situation, adjust the pressure accordingly, and ensure that the hydro jetting process is safe and effective without causing harm to the pipes.

Regular maintenance, professional evaluation, and accurate pressure settings are key factors in preventing pipe damage during hydro jetting, making it essential to rely on licensed plumbers for this procedure.
